There's something about 3-month olds that light up your heart. Maybe it's the sparkle in their eye when you talk in a high pitched happy voice. Maybe it's the way they giggle when you squish their baby tummy. Or maybe it's their fascination with the world as they discover new things all the time. I have my own 3-month old, well, she's 4 months now, but I felt right at home photographing my new friends, baby Brooklyn and baby Codyn. So, their mamas have been friends for awhile, keeping tabs on each other during pregnancy and counting down the days together until delivery. And now their babies are days apart from each other!! My morning was full of these squishy cheeks....I love babies. Seriously, take a peek!

Newborn sessions are a completely different pace than the normal family pictures. All is quiet, and the main objective is to get baby to sleep. Well baby B was relaxed as a little bug, but stayed awake for quite some time!

There's nothing I love more than seeing first time parents gaze into the eyes of a newborn, totally unaware of anything but the sweet needs of their baby. They take in every detail - the soft fuzzy arms, a petite button nose, wisps of fine baby hair, and the delicate fingers wrapped around their own long fingers. But sweet baby girl's daddy worked his magic to get her relaxed enough to sleep - some. :)

It's not very often that you get to witness a long-awaited miracle like this one.

Years of waiting. Patience. High hopes. Dashed dreams. Always moving forward. Then, THE phone call.

With only 3 days notice, a baby was going home to a family whose arms ached for a tiny being. I can only imagine what those 3 days were like, but the instant I got a picture text of a baby with rich black hair and an angel face, I knew she was right where she belongs.

Allow me to introduce my newest niece, who took her first airplane ride so I could meet and photograph her adorable self!

Baby {S} | Newborn Photographer

Whew! It's been a busy month of July! I've been traveling quite a bit - putting over 2,000 miles on my car in 3 weeks. I imagine I'll add another 1,200 by the time my vacation is over. The word "fun" is an understatement, and it's been wonderful to see family and reconnect with friends.

But enough about me.

I was thrilled when I was contacted to photograph a newborn. I LOVE taking pictures of newborns, and oh my goodness was this baby cute! This little fella had a million expressions, but the one he liked the most was his scowl. Mama F said that Simon's furrowed brow was the first face she saw after he was born. He truly is a miracle baby for this sweet couple, and I'm just honored they let me into their home to capture their amazing {little} man (and I use the word "little" loosely since he is probably reaching 10 lbs at only 2 weeks old!).

It's a busy week with photo shoots, so I'm sure there will be more to come!!

How lucky I feel to have photographed this family!

When Elizabeth contacted me to get combined family/newborn pictures, I imagined how exhausted they all must be with a tiny 2-week old baby. However, Elizabeth was bright and calm and ready to go as soon as I got there while baby M slept through almost the entire photo shoot! It was getting hot and muggy, so going inside to spend time with baby M was a welcome treat. I couldn't have asked for a better model {except when she "leaked" on sweet mama when her diaper was off}...she was such a tiny li'l peanut! {And just one more reason I love this family so much: they are another military family - dad proudly serves as a pilot in the airforce. Thank YOU!}

As I was sorting through their pictures, I found myself smiling bigger and bigger with each one. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

And how handsome is their little boy!?! The deep red hair! The brown eyes! I can't get enough! Lucky kid! :)
